Salad Lover is the brainchild of Simone and Or who started the business in 2010, soon after arriving in Cape Town.

Simone is the Mastermind behind Salad Lover. She grew up both in Israel and in South Africa. As a child, she absorbed the love for flavours and food presentation while watching her mom meticulously preparing dishes for her catering business. Many years later, while working in an upmarket food deli in Glasgow, the idea for creating her own food brand was born. Simone’s style is influenced by the rich, diverse and very flavourful offering of the Middle-Eastern cuisine, channeling her passion to create her own specific style.

Or is the Muscle behind Salad Lover. He will be at the market come rain or shine making sure Salad Lover’s table is full and set up just right so that it’s ready for you to order and enjoy. Most often he will be standing in his favorite spot, behind the giant Shakshuka pan.

When not at the markets, Or works as a teacher. He is also the main beneficiary of Simone’s experiments and delicious home cooked meals.

Salad Lover would not exist without the hard work of the dedicated kitchen and market staff. In the kitchen they share the same passion for cooking, always making sure the standards are kept and that the food is cooked perfectly. The market staff work hard on their feet, always with a smile and always ready to help the next customer.
